Just because a car looks cool, that does not mean its performance is just as impressive. Others, though, bring the best of both worlds. The Ford Mustang often ranks on the lists of history’s most-popular muscle cars, and certainly the 1970 Ford Mustang is one of those that constantly excites classic and muscle car fans from around the world. This was a car which had probably had many engine options, giving drivers the ability to impress others on the road. Today, this model year is still a favorite at classic car shows and auctions. We’d be quite surprised if that changed anytime soon.
After the 1969 Mustangs were accused of looking like too aggressive, the 1970 model year 
saw some adjustments to make the car look a little more “friendly.” Cosmetically, this meant the 1970 Mustang was fitted with just two headlights, rather than the quad units that were previously featured, and the scoops were not functional, though they added a little more appeal. Bucket seats became standard, which gave the interior a feel more akin to a race car. Despite these changes, though, sales numbers dropped a bit for this model year. In all, about 40, 970 1970 Ford Mustang fastbacks were produced.
For a car which never ceases to impress, this was an example of Ford’s attempt to stay ahead of the times. By making the overall look of the 1970 model year Mustang a little less intimidating, Ford hoped sales would increase, though the opposite was true. Despite the dip in sales, the Mustang has continued to endure tough economies and booming ones. This is sure to be a line which will continue well into the future, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
